Kjartan Hauglid is an art historian and a researcher at NIKU. He has a cand.philol. degree from the University of Oslo.
Hauglid has written a master’s thesis on Nidaros Cathedral (2007) and carried out research on architecture from the Norwegian Middle Ages in a European context. He has authored a number of articles on this subject. His main research interests are topics such as architecture, architectural sculpture, iconography, and visual culture in the Middle Ages.
At NIKU, Hauglid’s work centers on Norway’s Medieval churches. He has extensive experience with digital documentation and building archaeology. Hauglid has contributed on several large restoration and rehabilitation projects and is also an experienced photographer.
