Successful PARKAS seminar 2018
The main theme for the seminar was integration of cultural heritage in the management of national parks, with Hardangervidda and Saltfjellet-Svartisen as cases.
Representatives from the project partnership gathered at the research project PARKAS’ fall event. 23 researchers and managers from Norway and abroad attended the seminar held at Geilo Hotel 6-8 November.
Great interest in the subject
A report for the seminar is under way.
– Preliminary results show great interest in the subject, as well as confirming that management must be exercised in a manner that takes into account everyone’s interests and facilitates action-based solutions, Project Manager Véronique Simon from the Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research (NIKU) says.
The partner institutions represented at the seminar were the Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research, the Norwegian Institute for Water Research, the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research and Nordland Research Institute, the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage, the Norwegian Trekking Association, the Norwegian Wild Reindeer Centre, the Norwegian Nature Inspectorate, Nore and Uvdal Municipality, as well as a handful of researchers from research and management organizations in France, England and the Netherlands.
