Wurihan was born in Inner Mongolia, China, and is an anthropologist with a multilingual background and author of a prize-winning non-fiction article.

She earned her Ph.D. from the anthropology department of Peking University, China. Her research focuses on social changes, human-animal relationships, relocation, and displacement of pastoral communities. She has been conducting fieldwork in Inner Mongolian pastoral communities since 2017.

Wurihan is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher on the project “Complexity,” with research interests in topics such as cooperative behaviors in pastoral societies as hybrid communities where humans (herders) coexist with diverse non-human entities.
