Digital documentation of rock paintings at Steinberget, Innlandet County

In 2018, the first rock paintings in Innlandet County, Southern Norway, was discovered. NIKU documented the rock paintings at Steinberget. The work was financed by the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage.

The fieldwork uncovered a new panel with rock paintings near the previous found panel. Initially one see only 7 figures at Steinberget, however with the aid of new digital documentation techniques, altogether 34 figures or remains of figures were found at the two panels at the site.
