Feasibility study for Fetsund

NIKU participated as a subcontractor to ASAS Architects in a parallel assignment for Lillestrøm municipality.

The feasibility study addressed the development of Fetsund center with housing, care homes, health functions, commerce, library, and swimming pool, closely linked to flood protection of the Glomma river. The delivery includes volume studies, architecture and landscape design, planning for densification and transformation while preserving Fetsund’s distinctiveness and cultural heritage.

NIKU’s role was cultural heritage advisory, discussing preservation value, tolerance limits, and opportunities for protected buildings and areas; historical references for material and color use on roofs and facades; and input on planning measures to highlight cultural-historical qualities.
