NIKU contributes with cultural heritage consultancy in relation to buildings and urban environments, integrity and coherence, land use, densification, and urban and local development. We provide the technical basis for plans and planning provisions, feasibility studies, and cultural environment plans. NIKU can assist municipalities in all types of planning, as well as assess which planning level/type of plan should be chosen.

NIKU has prepared cultural environment plans for several municipalities. A cultural environment plan provides an overview of important cultural monuments and environments and contains a plan for their management. The plan provides knowledge about the past and clarifies which cultural environments, qualities, and characteristics will be taken care of in the future.
