Cultural history and cultural monuments are fundamental to a site’s identity.
NIKU performs urban heritage analyses and assists public and private actors requiring more knowledge about a site’s cultural history to inform planning processes. Such analysis will define the key components of cultural heritage, as well as highlighting the significance of cultural heritage as an asset and developmental resource.
NIKU employs the DIVE method, developed by The Directorate for Cultural Heritage through a Nordic cultural environment collaboration. The DIVE method is interdisciplinary, applying elements from both planning studies and cultural history studies.
